Lubrication

This section deals with the lubricants needed to help keep your bike in great and safe running condition. As lubricants have advanced so much in the two decades since the manual I have was printed I have asked people that I trust what the best lubricants for these bikes are. If you have other ideas, please, e-mail me.

Engine/Crankcase

For the engine in most climates the use of a high quality 80w oil will do the job but if you do a lot of high speed(this is not a problem on my 634) or if you are lucky enough to live in hot climates the use of 90w oil should do.The use of synthetics is up in the air although I have heard nothing but good reports lately from owners of older bikes.

Hubs

The hubs on the bike use wheel bearing grease to lubricate the bearings

Forks

The forks on the 634 con be filled with hydralic fluid designed for shocks found at any motorcycle service center.

Note

This imformation is just what I have been able to round up over the last two years. Undoubtably there are persons whos knowledge on this subject is greater then mine. If you are one of them e-mail me and I will update asap. vic
