It happened to me again but this time I had time
to duck but I didn't. I could probably blame this
on my brother he showed me the add for the Jawa in
the local Bargain Finder paper but you shouldn't blame
others for your weakness's. We were getting my 78
Jawa 634 ready for it's first Show n Shine when my
brother brought up the fact that someone had a 76 Jawa
634 for sale. I half jokingly told my soon to be wife
this and without missing a beat she said "buy it" this
threw me off so I called the guy right away.
"Hi is Ron there" I said "it's about a motorcycle he is
selling" "Hey Beazer it's for you" said the guy at the
other end. "Hello Beazer here" "I was calling about
the bike you have for sale. Does it run" I asked waiting
for the bad news. "It used to"Beazer replied quickly.
Why do they always say that I assume it ran at one time
but that was not the question that I asked, but in a way
it did give me an answer. "Do you know what is wrong with
it" "Nope it fell over once then wouldn't turn over" Now I
was still interested in the bike for parts so I thought that
I should go over and take a look.
"Can I see it today" I said.
"I'm at work but you can slide by my house and look if you
want" he said.
So I got his address and my wife, brother and
myself went in search of this bike. What we found was a 80
Jawa Sport, it apeared to be complete and best of all it showed
only 6000 kms on the odometer.
"She's seazed" said Trev, my little brother. I should explain
something here my little brother isn't so little he's about 230
lbs so when he said that I new he was right. I walked around
the bike for a moment then I started to feel the familiar tingle
it was a bright light eminated from behind it and I could not
tear myeyes away from it. She was pleading with me, she was
asking my help to once again travel the streets. I knew at
that point that I had to help her but how to convince my wife
that this dirty little bike, that didn't run, deserved space
in our garage.
"She would make a good parts bike" I said with a straight
face knowing full well that I could never take pieces off of this
bike.
"O.K. get it then" she said to me. Now guys which of you wouldn't
marry a woman so willing to let you indulge like this. We tracked
down Beazer at the place that he worked a slightly worn down country
bar.
"Hi I'm Beazer" said a one armed man coming around the bar.
"I'm Vic. We looked at the bike but I can only give you $250 for
it as it needs alot of work".Half truths are allowed.
"$300 is as low as I can go" Beazer said back. And with that
I came to own my second 634, we brought her to the show and between
the two of them my bikes attracted alot of attention. Not bad for
two old Chezch bikes. |
